MEET THE JUDGE

I am deeply honored to serve you as a full-time Justice of the Peace.

I'll start with one very important truth. I am not a politician. I am a Christian, Husband, Dad, Grandpa, friend, and your neighbor. It is my most sacred duty to you to remain impartial and unbiased. I will always uphold the law; always defend the U.S. and Texas Constitutions; and always be fair and treat everyone with the respect they deserve.

I married my Junior High sweetheart, Michelle, 33 years ago and she is still the love of my life. We have two amazing children. Our son is an Army veteran. He served 10 years as a Combat Medic. He now works in construction and has 3 beautiful children. Our daughter is a Licensed Massage Therapist and has 6 beautiful children of her own. Together, they have given us 9 grandbabies (who call us PaDoo and Mimzy) and each one has me wrapped around their tiny little finger!

I was born and raised in Graham, TX where I worked at Graham Regional Medical Center in Respiratory Therapy for over a decade. I also served on the volunteer Fire Department for many years. We moved to Granbury and have lived here for almost 20 years. I worked at Lake Granbury Medical Center as a Respiratory Therapist for five years and for over 13 years I worked with Dr. Peter O'Carroll in neurology. During the 2 years of COVID, I filled in when Respiratory needed additional support. I also worked as on-call support for Wiley Funeral Home for 5 years. On nights and weekends, I received calls from families who had lost loved ones. I transferred their loved ones to the Medical Examiner or the Funeral Home.

I have spent my life serving people in some of the lowest places in their lives. Illness, pain, and loss. It has blessed me beyond measure and my prayer has always been that I am a blessing to them.

I love this community and have received so much, for which I am truly grateful. I am now happy to serve in a new and more direct way. In my work with Wiley Funeral Home, I had the pleasure to work alongside each of the Justices of the Peace in Hood County. I was moved by their compassion. I spoke with my wife and, after much prayer, made the decision to serve with them.

I believe strongly in law and order. I believe everyone deserves equal opportunity and treatment. I believe in integrity, honesty, fairness, justice, and personal as well as community responsibility, I believe every individual has the right to be heard by an impartial judge and treated with dignity, respect, and fairness.

I want to serve YOU and I am grateful the residents of Precinct 3 have allowed me to do that.

Judge Stephen Barnett

Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3
